If you’ve been told CrossFit-style training isn’t for you, read this first.
At Basecamp Fitco, our group fitness program — called simply “Fitness” — gives busy adults in Plainville, Attleboro, North Attleborough, and Wrentham the kind of training most people never find: coach-led, structured, scaled to you, and designed to get real results.
What Is “Fitness” at Basecamp?
Fitness is our signature group training program. Think CrossFit-style training — functional movements, constantly varied workouts, performed in a small group setting — but with a coach in front of you every single session.
Every class includes:
- A structured warm-up that prepares your body for the work ahead
- Strength and conditioning movements built around how your body actually moves in real life
- A coach-led workout that changes daily so you never plateau or get bored
- A cool-down and guidance on recovery
No two sessions look the same. That is by design.
“Isn’t CrossFit Too Intense? Won’t I Get Hurt?”
This is the question we hear most often — and it is a fair one.
The short answer: no, not the way we run it.
The reputation for injury in CrossFit-style training usually comes from two things: going too heavy too soon, and no coach present to correct your movement. We eliminate both problems.
At Basecamp, every session is fully coach-led. That means a certified coach is running the class, watching your form, and adjusting the workout to fit where you are on day one. If a movement is not right for your body yet, we scale it. Always.
Every Session Is Capped at 8 People — Here Is Why That Matters
Most group fitness classes pack 20, 30, or even 40 people into a room. At that scale, a coach cannot watch you. They are managing traffic, not training you.
We cap every class at 8 participants. That is intentional. It means:
- Your coach can see every rep you take
- Movement corrections happen in real time, not after the fact
- You get personalized attention without paying personal training prices
- You are held accountable to showing up and doing the work
Small-group training at this level is a fundamentally different experience from a big-box gym class.
Movements Scale to Every Fitness Level
You do not need a fitness background to walk into Basecamp. You do not need to be in shape before you start.
Every movement in the Fitness program can be modified. A squat becomes a box squat. A push-up becomes an elevated push-up. A barbell deadlift becomes a kettlebell deadlift. Your coach makes the call based on where you are, not where someone else is.
This is especially important for adults returning to training after years off, or those managing common issues like back pain, tight hips, or nagging joints. We meet you where you are and build from there.
Why Functional Movements? Because Real Life Demands Them.
The movements you train in Fitness — picking things up, pressing overhead, squatting, carrying, pulling — are the same movements you do every single day.
Getting groceries out of the car. Playing with your kids or grandkids. Lifting something heavy without thinking twice. Moving through your day without soreness slowing you down.
Functional training builds strength and capacity that transfers. That is the whole point.
Constantly Varied Keeps Your Body Adapting
One of the fastest ways to stall in fitness is doing the same thing, week after week.
The Fitness program is constantly varied. Strength days, conditioning days, mixed-modal training — the stimulus changes regularly so your body keeps adapting. This is how you continue making progress at month six, month twelve, and beyond.
It also keeps training interesting. You show up not knowing exactly what is coming, and that is a good thing.
The Community and Accountability You Have Been Missing
One of the hardest parts of training alone is staying consistent when life gets busy.
When you train in a group with the same people, week after week, you show up for them as much as yourself. Your coach notices when you miss a session. Your training partners push you on the days you do not feel like pushing yourself.
That accountability is not a side benefit. For most of our members, it is the reason they are still training six, twelve, and eighteen months in.
What Results Can You Expect?
Our members — busy adults between 35 and 60 — typically see:
- Strength gains within the first 8 to 12 weeks
- Improved body composition — losing fat, building lean muscle
- Better endurance for everyday activities and recreational sports
- Improved confidence in how they move and feel
- Less pain in common trouble spots like the hips, lower back, and shoulders
The timeline depends on where you start. But if you show up consistently, the results come.
This Is Not Random Chaos — It Is Structured Training
The word “CrossFit” can conjure images of people going all-out with no direction. That is not what happens at Basecamp.
Every workout is programmed with intention. There is a reason for the loading, the movements, the time domains, and the rest periods. Our coaches hold credentials including NASM CPT, ISSA CPT, and group fitness certifications — and they use that knowledge every session.
You show up. You do the work. We handle everything else.
